Job Description:
- Plan and conduct nature-oriented activities such as nature trails, bird walks, forest bathing, hill treks, insect and herp walks, star gazing, nature art, etc.
- To answer guest questions, provide information about the park and its surrounding areas, help identify flora and fauna for guests, show them the beauty of the
surroundings, and point out significant historic, scientific and natural features of the forests and sites around. - Educating the guests about the history, ecology and the unique geography of The Machan and its surrounding forest. Creating teachable moments and an educational
environment for the guests by triggering conversations regarding the natural setting. - Ensure sustenance and maintenance of the different ecosystems that The Machan has developed within the property such as the butterfly garden, the fish pond, etc.
- Lead the patrolling team in the surrounding primary forest to look for snares and traps and prevent poaching of wild fauna. Creating awareness among the local
communities regarding the fragile environment of the Western Ghats. - Plan and conduct studies and research on the flora, fauna and the seasonal ecological changes. Document observations on a regular basis.
- Writing informative blog articles on the unique biodiversity around The Machan.
- Providing photographic and video graphic content to the marketing team.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters in the Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies, Wildlife Science. Candidates with a science teaching background are also encouraged to
apply. - Previous experience of working in the field will be an added bonus. This could be in the form of thesis field work, volunteering or internships with
wildlife/environmental NGOs - Excellent interpersonal communicationand guest service skills as a major part of the job is to interact with the guests and creating a learning environment.
- Ability to always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
