Job Duties: The employee is responsible for facilitating school field trips for 4th grade classrooms in the Nature Awaits program. The employee will assist with preparations for program reservations, guide students through student-led activities, answer questions, facilitate learning and introduce students to each park’s unique natural and cultural features. The employee is responsible for helping to communicate with the public and each park supervisor about Nature Awaits programs.

Education/Experience: Applicants must have a high school diploma. College coursework in natural sciences, education, or parks and recreation is strongly recommended. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of Michigan’s natural resources, have the ability to communicate with school audiences with varied backgrounds in an outdoor experience, and have a positive work attitude demonstrating emotional maturity. Applicants should be able to work independently as well as with small and large teams.

Schedule: Part-time, varies seasonally.  Up to 29 hours per week in spring and fall, with flexible opportunities for summer or winter work. Spring and fall hours to likely be Monday through Friday but applicants must be willing to work afternoons, evenings. Variations to the recommended work schedule may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
