Position: Seasonal Kayak Rental Attendant

Come work for the Island as a Summer Kayak Rental Attendant and experience the beauty of the Low country while providing outstanding service! As a Kayak Attendant, you will assist guests with kayak and paddleboard rentals, ensuring they have a safe and enjoyable time on the water. You will provide 5-star, personal service to each guest while being a part of a dynamic team, working beside the pristine water of the Kiawah River. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, interacting with guests, and supporting a fun and active recreation program. Join our team and work in paradise!

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a 100% outdoor based position. Providing paddle safety and general information in a friendly, courteous manner within the standards of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
  • Provide a consistent 5-star service level to all guests.
  • Handle money, maintain accurate records, and assist guests with rental forms and agreements.
  • Monitor the launch site area, distribute life jackets, conduct water patrols if necessary, clean and maintain kayaks and paddleboards, and follow all opening/closing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly rental site.
  • Repair damaged kayaks/SUPs.
  • Report unsafe conditions or equipment issues to the Nature Program Manager.
  • Uphold the core values, policies, and procedures of the resort.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Kayaking and paddleboard experience required.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays required.
  • College degree (or currently pursuing) preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience with motorboats preferred but not required.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good to excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds across short to medium distances.
  • Ability to work consecutive hours outdoors without sitting down.
  • Able to perform physically demanding duties in extreme heat and humidity.
  • Must be able to work on-site daily due to job requirements.
  • Must have transportation

Employee Housing:

As a benefit to seasonal staff, KIGR offers optional employee housing. Due to the resort’s location, the housing options are limited and all are located off-island (approximately 25 miles) and requires residents to have personal transportation in order to get to/from work. Work transportation (to/from work ONLY) may be able to be arranged for a minor additional cost made via payroll deduction. All housing is shared - with two (2) residents per bedroom. 

Details:

  • Housing is offered on a “first come, first serve” basis and requires a $300 security deposit to be remitted 60 days prior to moving in. If job offer is received within the 60-day window, the deposit is required to be provided ASAP to ensure space is reserved.
  • Cost for housing varies based on the apartment complex, size of the unit and number of residents living within the apartment. Average rate is $150 - $165 / week (or $300-$330 per paycheck, as we are paid bi-weekly.)
  • Payment for housing is made bi-weekly via payroll deduction.
  • Payment includes accommodation, furniture rental and basic utilities (Internet and cable is  tenant responsibility).
  • Shared housing residents will be assigned roommates at the Resort’s discretion. Requests honored, if availability allows.
