Position Summary: educate NABC visitors about our small animals, other local wildlife, and the environment they live in via programs and Q&A. This position will be responsible for all aspects of small care including maintaining clean aquariums and terrariums, animal enrichment activities, food preparation, and feedings. You will also assist with bear care if/when necessary.

Primary Duties: 

1.) Conduct small animal care by: feeding, documenting diet and behavior, enclosure cleaning and maintenance, handling for and with guests.
2.) Engage our guests in conversation, answer questions, and help direct them to information within the NABC.
3.) Lead and assist with programs for our guests in a professional manner by guiding tours, Q&A sessions, online broadcasts, and other activities.

4.) Research and utilize relative Minnesota flora and fauna to enhance your knowledge and heighten your ability to educate others.

5.) When necessary, assist in maintaining the exhibit hall areas so that they are clean and presentable to guests.
6.) When necessary, assist in captive black bear care by: feeding, food preparation,
documenting diet and behavior, enclosure maintenance, and other caretaker procedures.
7.) Create and present a project that adds value to the NABC by the end of your internship.
8.) Daily opening and closing business procedures.

This position goes from May 2025 to the beginning of August 2025. We can be somewhat flexible with start and end dates to accommodate school schedules.

Housing and a stipend are provided.

We are happy to work with any accredited institution so applicants can receive college credit for their internship.
