LOCATION: Northwest Youth Corps Eugene, Oregon Office. Will require 20% travel to remote training and project locations which may include traveling within OR, WA, and ID.

COMPENSATION: $17.00 per hour, non-exempt

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC), a non-profit organization, has given tens of thousands of youth and young adults opportunities to learn, grow, and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. More importantly, they gain skills needed to become economically and socially self-sufficient, benefit their communities as citizen stewards, and recognize that they can make a positive difference. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps (ICC).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Member Services Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating Northwest Youth Corps youth and young adult recruitment and hiring for all AmeriCorps and field leader positions. This position requires a person with energy and organizational skills, a person dedicated to helping youth and young adults develop the skills they need to lead a successful life, and a person interested in promoting the growth of a generation dedicated to stewardship of our public lands and our nation’s natural communities.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Promote continued organization support of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Seek to remove barriers to participation in NYC programs for underrepresented

Department Supervision and collaborations

  • This position is supervised by the Member Services Manager and serves on the Member Services

Risk Management

  • Ensure that the inherent risks of our programs are clearly articulated in marketing, collateral materials, telephonic communication all pre-program engagements
  • Work closely with Program staff to assure that our medical evaluation process is fully and consistently implemented
  • Ensure all critical medical and medication information is included in Crew leader resource packets

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Outreach: Professionally represent NYC/ICC while presenting at career fairs, community events and tabling opportunities to increase interest and awareness of programming
  • Communications: Assist with the coordination of a dynamic advertising campaign including but not limited to job board posting, social media content and outreach resources
  • Recruitment: Recruit an extensive and diverse applicant pool for Youth and Young Adult conservation programming
  • Hiring: Review Youth and Young Adult applications, coordinate Young Adult interviews, send hire documents
  • Onboarding: Manage onboarding process for all Youth and Young Adult members, Youth and Young Adult leaders, including tracking the status of required paperwork and communicating logistics with hired members
  • Compliance: Collaborate with AmeriCorps Program Manager to ensure AmeriCorps compliance throughout the onboarding process including conducting background checks and timely submission of onboarding paperwork
  • Departmental Support: Maintain consistent and open communication with the Member Services team to carry out goals and expectations
  • Alumni Engagement: Maintain a strong and engaged alumni base

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • The Member Services Coordinator will work in an office setting that is climate controlled, with a noise level that will be quiet to This position serves in an open office environment with staff from multiple departments working in a shared office space.

Terms of Employment

Based in Eugene OR, will require 20% travel to remote training and project locations which may include traveling within OR, WA, and ID. This is a full time, hourly position. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM; with periodic long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities seasonally.
