Outdoor Education Field Instructors - Full-time seasonal positions available mid-February - end of May with the opportunity for some work the week before and after the official season dates. Part-time instructors are also needed throughout the season.
Seasonal contract pay starts at a minimum of $500/Week with the following benefits: On-site housing, food when working with clients, and access to our facilities including laundry, internet, the Mohican state park trails, two lakes, rock wall, and two high ropes courses. Part-time instructor pay starts at $12/hour and increases with experience and qualifications.
Salaries increase with additional qualifications, including: WFA/WFR, ACCT Level 1 or 2, teaching license, master's degree.
Instructors will teach and lead outdoor education sessions through:
- Approaching learning and engagement through a multidisciplinary teaching approach
- Guiding hikes in the state forest
- Engaging students in environmental and STEAM-centered curriculum
- Facilitating challenge courses, canoeing, climbing walls, and other adventure programming
- Promoting social and emotional learning with our team building initiatives
- Making the program accessible for all students, regardless of ability level and background

Candidates need to be comfortable working outdoors, excited about teaching, and able to pass a background check. This is the perfect job for recent college graduates, prospective teachers, students interested in a gap year process, professionals in environmental studies, and retired educators.
The position will require evening duties throughout the season, and occasional weekend responsibilities. The initial training will last two weeks, and continued training will be offered as the season progresses.

The Environmental Educator & Program Development Specialist role is a Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, Americorps position. This service program is an 11-month commitment from August 16, 2024 - June 30, 2025.
This volunteer role includes the following benefits:
- $18,700 living stipend
- $6,895 education award
- Health insurance (no vision/dental)

- Professional development training
The primary responsibilities of this position are direct instruction of youth as an outdoor educator and collecting data for NDMVA. This includes but is not limited to:
- Approaching learning and engagement through a multidisciplinary teaching approach
- Guiding hikes in the state forest
- Engaging students in environmental and STEAM-centered curriculum
- Facilitating challenge courses, canoeing, climbing walls, and other adventure programming
- Promoting social and emotional learning with our team building initiatives
- Making the program accessible for all students, regardless of ability level and background
- Attending Notre Dame Mission Volunteers Americorps meetings
- Collecting data from students through surveys
Candidates will be:
- At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma/GED
- Consent to a criminal history check
- US Citizen or lawful permanent resident
