JOB OVERVIEW   

Are you looking for a chance to work outdoors? Working with our Education Services team as a Spring Outdoor Education Program Leader and make a positive impact in the public’s lives! Share your knowledge and passion for the natural environment with diverse audiences, including kids and adults. Apply today to join our team this spring in working alongside Education Coordinators to implement spring environmental education programs, like Field Studies, School and Community Outreach, and Special Events like World Migratory Bird Day and Earth Day at various Conservation Areas within the County!

What are we looking for? Flexibility as this job requires some evening and weekend work, plus working between Lost Valley Visitor Center and Prairieview Education Center. Also looking for at least six months of related experience working with children and/or leading conservation-related programs and some post high school education and/or training in environmental education/interpretation or related field.

Driving is an essential part of the job, so for your safety and those around you, we require applicants to have a current, valid driver's license and to complete a pre-employment drug screening. Program responsibilities require you to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and to be capable of hiking up to 3miles while carrying educational supplies.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: While we do not provide a formal internship program, if you need to obtain college credits through an internship we are open to further discussing with you the criteria your college is looking for in a program to determine if the District has the time and resources to fulfill those needs.

WORK DATES & LOCATION:

Approximate hours work each week will be between 30-40 hours. Start date is the week April, with work ending last week of May, potentially extending into June. Employees will be based out of the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, north of McHenry, however, you’re time will be split between both Lost Valley Visitor Center and Prairieview Education Center in Crystal Lake, IL, with occasionally working other conservation sites.
