Are you looking for a summer filled with Science, Adventure, and FUN? Our outdoor adventure based Day Camp Program, also known as Pathfinders, is seeking energetic and knowledgeable counselors WITH SOME CLIMBING EXPERIENCE, to guide middle schoolers through action packed adventures in our horse, rock, and water themed weeks. One week you may be teaching campers about the essential skills associated with climbing the side of a rock face, and the next you may find yourself gearing up to paddle down the Clear Creek river through class three rapids, with a local rafting company of course. In addition to these high adventure outdoor activities, you will be there to introduce and inspire young campers to build confidence, develop new skills, and embrace the outdoors while also teaching them environmental science lessons along the way. Requirements:

  • Climbing Experience is preferred in candidates and a climbing log of experience may be required. 
  • Candidates will be asked to provide verification of 460 hours of experience working with school-age children;
  • Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment;
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check;
  • Age 20+ with an excellent driving record and a valid driver's license.

Job Duties:

  • Supervise up to 13 children each day and actively interact with and engage children during KSS programs. Counselors are responsible for the individual needs of each camper in their group;
  • Teach and facilitate activities based around rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, fly fishing, and support with barn maintenance duties at the local horse rescue. 
  • Facilitate environmental science and teambuilding based activities as well as facilitate games, crafts, and other camp activities;
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, and follow Risk Management policies in all activities;
  • Oversee the successful execution of logistic and operational tasks for Day Camp programs, which includes but is not limited to: taking photos, check-in/out, etc.;
  • Drive a 15-passenger van and successfully complete Van Driver Training;
  • Set up before children arrive and clean up after children depart from program campus;
  • Maintain storage of all KSS equipment.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings as assigned;
  • Other duties as assigned.
