This position is responsible for the recreational boating safety program, and that it  is benefiting boaters and other park visitors. This position shall enforce the New Mexico Boat Act by providing vessel safety inspections, assisting boaters on the water and enforcement of park rules and regulations.  This position must also maintain boating/park facilities, grounds and equipment. This position will present the Boat New Mexico Course to educate boaters on the basics of safe boating within adjacent communities, schools, military bases, etc. This position will also be responsible for providing hands on training for other officers during MEO classes, monitor their development and provide additional training as needed. This position will submit data for monthly and annual reporting regarding the boating program and the United States Coast Guard grant requirements. Required courses must be completed in order to obtain certification(s) to become an instructor for teaching the New Mexico Boating Course and other water related safety courses. Patrol the park to ensure public safety and enforce applicable state, local, and federal laws.

A non-certified UNDERFILL position is available to applicants who are currently not certified law enforcement officers but have the qualifications to attend the Law Enforcement Academy to become a certified law enforcement officer.
