Our Tennessee State Parks are among the most beautiful parks in the United States. We have an outstanding opportunity to work in a beautiful work environment at Fort Southwest Point State Historic Park in Kingston, TN. Fort Southwest Point was constructed in 1797 by federal troops to  replace an earlier blockhouse in what was then the “Southwest Territory” of the nation. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 for its historical and archaeological significance. The park features a
visitor center/museum, interpretive exhibits and programs, and recreational opportunities.

Preferred candidates will have two or more years of professional experience in natural resource or parks and recreation management experience and a bachelor’s degree in History, Natural Resource-based Management (Natural Resources, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, etc.), Park and Recreation Management, or related fields. The candidate is required to be a state-commissioned officer recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy or is willing to become commissioned.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

• Assist the area manager in planning and developing the new park, including creating the strategic management, resource management, and interpretive action plans.
• Serve as a Commissioned Officer, providing and maintaining park safety  and security, including law enforcement and basic first aid.
• Evaluate Park operations and make recommendations/decisions on services to improve the quality of operations and services.
• Participate in the implementation and coordination of policies and methods for park operations. Study, review, and enforce state policies and guidelines at the park level.
• Support community outreach programs and partner with local businesses, educational institutions, and area officials to promote the park and impact economic development.
• Oversee natural and cultural resource management of the park’s 39.7 acres.
