This Park Ranger year-round position is an assistant to the park manager providing coverage for administrative tasks, collection of fees, cash deposits, adhering to department cash handling procedures, training of staff, and providing for the public safety of park visitors. 

This is operations, maintenance, and personal work in providing services to park users, enforcing park rules and regulations, maintaining and repairing facilities at three state park day-use areas.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to meeting the public and providing for their needs and performing tasks necessary to maintain and protect land and water areas, buildings, and other physical facilities at the state parks day-use areas. Directing and overseeing the activities of a small crew for maintenance and operations personnel, or volunteers. Operating specialized equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and tractors in order to maintain the park areas. Cleaning and general maintenance of picnic sites, preserving hiking trails and trailheads. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Park Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year of experience in park maintenance and operation or equivalent.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class): Valid Class C Maine motor vehicle operator’s license.
