Part-time Faculty Hydrogeology

Hydrogeology-GEOL 4084 is a required course in the geology curriculum. The Earth and Environmental Sciences program is seeking a qualified individual to offer one section of Hydrogeology, consisting of a 3-credit lecture, and 1-credit lab during the spring 2026 semester. The program is willing to consider a hybrid offering for nearby instructors but is planning for this section to be offered solely online. The qualified applicant must have earned at least 18 graduate level credit hours in geology or a related field, some of which must be within the hydrogeology subdiscipline. The qualified applicant must be capable of generating one semester (15 weeks) of lectures (equivalent to 3 hours per week) and lab (one hour per week) content relevant to modern hydrogeologic practices, issues, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • To design and teach one online section of GEOL 4084-Hydrogeology consisting of a lecture and lab which introduces students to theoretical and practical applications of hydrogeology.
  • To be available to offer assistance to students through online office hours at reasonable and regular times.
  • To manage clear, regular, and engaging communication with students enrolled in the course.

Required Qualifications

Required Education: B.S. in geology, geological engineering, or a related field

Required Experience: Minimum of 18 graduate level course credits in geology or a related field, with some credits being under the hydrogeology subdiscipline

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: M.S or Ph.D. in geology or a related discipline with expertise in hydrogeology

Preferred Experience: Teaching experience at the undergraduate level or professional hydrogeological experience

Proposed Salary

$4200 per semester

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Applicants must have knowledge of hydrogeologic principles and practical applications relevant to modern geologic and environmental issues.

Skill: Applicants must be capable of effectively communicating course content to students through utilization of UWG's course management system.

Abilities: Applicants must have the ability to understand and address the educational needs of undergraduate students enrolled in the course.
