Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Permitting Specialist to be based out of our Tempe, Arizona office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performing field investigations and preparing studies and documents related to all aspects of Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act.
Position Requires:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Biology, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Environmental Studies or closely related field.
- 3+ years of consulting or agency experience or equivalent combination.
- Strong use and knowledge of the following: Clean Water Act, US Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 Program, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency Section 401 Water Quality Certifications, and the Arizona and National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems.
- Knowledge of the current definition of waters of the US.
- Experience conducting jurisdictional delineations of waters of the US in the southwest. Wetland delineation experience is a plus.
- Experience preparing Preliminary Jurisdictional Determination documents.
- Strong technical written, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
- Capability and willingness to travel to project areas throughout Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico.
- Strong orienteering skills (such as map, GPS, and compass).
- Must be able to occasionally work outside in extreme temperatures on steep, rocky, and/or uneven terrain.
- Physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and possess personal auto insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience preparing Section 404 Permit applications.
- Experience preparing Approved Jurisdictional Determinations.
- Proficiency in GIS/ESRI software applications.
- Experience with Section 402 of the Clean Water Act or preparing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
Compensation:
This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $66,560 and $83,200 annually, depending on experience and education.
