HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Lead Construction & Maintenance Worker will support San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s mission of saving species worldwide by assigning, inspecting, supervising, and participating in the work of crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities and grounds. This position reports to the Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assigns, supervises, inspects work of maintenance and construction personnel
- Participates in the work of maintenance and construction
- Ensures maintenance and construction crews observe safety rules and practices
- Determines priority and makes work assignments in accordance with priorities
- Inspects grounds, buildings, animal enclosures and other facilities
- Prepares drawings for construction, alteration and repair projects
- Determines tools, equipment, and materials necessary for projects
- May drive motorize vehicles on and off grounds
- Trains other maintenance and construction personnel
- Keeps records and files
- Estimates project time, materials and equipment from blueprints and drawings
- Meets requirements, or higher, in all categories of annual performance evaluation
- Adheres to all SDZWA and department policies and practices
- Models punctuality and professionalism
- Exemplifies the highest standard of work ethics
- Performs consistently above Society performance standards
- Practices the GRRREAT Customer Service Standard
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
San Diego Zoo Safari Park is looking for a Lead Construction and Maintenance Worker with an emphasis in plumbing. The ideal candidate should be experienced with diagnosing plumbing issues associated with aging plumbing infrastructure, installing, replacing, maintaining and repairing pipes for water, wastewater, sewerage, gas and other related lines; installing, replacing, maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures, pumps and valves; inspecting, trouble shooting and repairing water and wastewater leaks. Also to have the experience to estimate materials and labor costs for projects; have the ability to navigate an electronic work order system and perform enter data into an asset management tracking system and perform electronic timecard entry. Proficiency in using a Windows based computer and have the ability to create work summaries using MS Word and Excel is highly preferred.
- EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Current valid California Driver’s license in good standing
