We are looking for a person interested in and understands others' perspectives, easily recognizes when others have important information, perspectives or ideas and is committed to the service of the public, mission, and team.

You will serve as the process improvement and project management expert for the Deputy Director and Director’s Office, with a focus on implementing strategic initiatives and promoting a respectful, inclusive workplace.

In this role, you will also coordinate Executive Management Team (EMT) operations, including managing meetings, agendas, and tracking decisions.

What to Expect-

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Process Improvement and Project Manager will, 

Project management of Executive Management Team (EMT) driven communication goals and strategies such as EMT actions, Strategic Plan communications, Employee Engagement Survey and Deputy Director Coffee Chats:

  • Manage the agency’s Intranet homepage, Directors Office (DO) page, EMT page, Headquarters (HQ)/Natural Resources Building (NRB) homepage and Policies and Procedures Page.
  • Serve as the project manager for the Respectful and Inclusive Workplace Coordination Team. Assess internal communications and ensure coordinated actions/strategies to increase respect and inclusiveness in the workplace effectiveness.

Chair of the Agency Policy Committee:

  • Lead the WDFW Agency Policy committee which includes 8-10 staff members including multi-disciplinary experts.
  • Accept, organize and prioritize proposals for new policies and proposed changes for current policies.
  • Coordinate the review to identify outdated policies and develop strategies to move multiple policy updates through the process efficiently and simultaneously.
  • Coordinate with Labor Relations to ensure that unions receive all necessary communications and reviews.
  • Coordinate meetings of the policy committee including agendas, tasks, decisions and movement of policy changes through the process.
  • Communicate new or updated policies appropriately to effectively increase policy compliance.

Coordinate the Executive Management Team (EMT):

  • Serve as a consultant to the Executive Management Team (EMT) regarding their overall effectiveness.
  • Develop EMT agendas that are well-prepared, well-communicated and include only items that are ready for EMT communication or discussion. Maintain and communicate expectations for EMT-ready requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate the Senior Manager meetings.
  • Post meeting notes in a timely fashion to the agency intranet or external website as appropriate.

Working Conditions: 

Work Setting, including hazards: Work is generally performed in an office setting. Will require some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Schedule: Typically, Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. May be required to work occasional weekends and evenings, depending on workload. This position is expected to work at least three (3) days per week in the office, with flexibility to telework two (2) days per week.

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required throughout the State to attend training, meetings, and conferences.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

Four (4) years of project management experience, which may also include: 

  • Conducting research. 
  • Analyzing policies, laws, rules or regulations. 

OR

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, environmental studies or a related field and four (4) years of experience conducting research and analyzing policies, laws, rules or regulations.

Competency: 

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook to manage and track documents, reports, spreadsheets, databases, etc.  

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess some or all the following:

Professional office experience.

An interest in working with natural resource issues.

Experience with: 

  • SharePoint development.
  • Organizational policies
  • Project management.
  • Process improvement.
  • Change management.
  • Group facilitation.
  • Coordinating the input of multiple stakeholders to come to decisions.
