The Ecology School at River Bend Farm provides overnight immersive programs for participants of all ages as well as some day and outreach programs to schools. We are committed to making every program empowering, informative and fun, and pour our hearts, energy, and time into our work. Our 311-acre campus is on the banks of the Saco River at River Bend Farm in Saco. The Ecology School works hard to practice what we teach and to teach with intention. A successful Program Coordinator invests their time and energy into making our community, programs, and experiences of our visiting clients the best that they can be. They are a hard-working individual, who has a willingness to learn and desire to work with guests. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Learning Experiences, Director of Educational Partnerships, and Program Assistant to provide administrative support to the onsite programs and will work closely with the Program Assistant to deliver the day to day needs of our onsite programs. They will assist in coordination and management of summer camp programs. Occasional weekend hosting is part of the position as well. The Program Coordinator will coordinate educator hiring and supervise seasonal educators in coordination with the other Program Team administrators. The Program Coordinator is part of the Learning Experiences Team and reports to the Director of Learning Experiences.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate needs of overnight school program clients in conjunction with Director of Learning Experiences.
- Work closely with the Program Assistant and Learning Experiences Team members in the day to day operation of the school overnight program including conducting orientation, teacher and feedback meetings, managing food allergies and dining commons management, working with the health coordinator as needed, and handling the day to day needs of staff and client schools.
- Work with Learning Experiences Team to maintain high level of customer care for clients during their stay.
- Coordinate seasonal educator hiring in conjunction with Program Team.
- Coordinate educator training in conjunction with Program Team.
- Supervise seasonal program staff including providing leadership, mentorship, and feedback in coordination with the Program Team.
- Collaborate with Program Team in creating and executing each week’s program schedule.
- Collaborate with Program Team and educators to develop new programs, curriculum and teaching materials.
- Provide evening coverage for overnight youth programs on average of 2 nights a week until 9pm.
- Work with Director of Learning Experiences to plan and prepare for school programs.
- Assist in the management of program support staff and projects.
- Work closely with Program Team in day to day operation of non-school programs including, but not limited to Summer Ecology Adventure Camp, other youth programs, and adult retreats and rentals
- Attend weekly Program Team meetings.
- Teach programs as necessary and available.
- Work between 40-45 hours a week.
- Other administrative duties as assigned and necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience at The Ecology School or administrative experience at a similar organization
- Ability to develop good rapport and positive relations with students, teachers, guests, educators, and other Ecology School clients.
- BS or BA degree or equivalent life/work experience.
- Organized, hard-working, sense of humor and a willingness to learn.
- Proven ability to make quality, timely decisions regarding guests, campers, parents, staffing and other program aspects.
