The Program Manager is responsible for the overall administration, organization, and communication of the office. The PM works to support and execute Diablo Trust’s mission through leadership, strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach.

This is a part-time leadership position that requires a blend of program management, financial oversight, land stewardship, community relations, and strategic planning. Work may be done with Board Members or community volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Duties
    • Oversee the daily operations of the office, including managing office supplies, maintaining records, and ensuring smooth workflow.
    • Keep the organization’s documents and files current, including financial records, planning documents, and technical reports.
    • Office communications, including responding to emails, phone calls, and other correspondence.
    • Working with the organization’s Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and other government entities to keep Diablo Trust compliant with federal and state law
  • Program Leadership & Administration
    • Oversee, develop, and manage Diablo Trust’s ongoing programs, including research, rancher collaboration, and community events and education.
    • Coordinate with the Board of Directors and Operations Team to ensure the organization’s goals align with its strategic plan.
    • Manage staff, interns, and volunteers, providing support and leadership in a collaborative environment.
  • Community Outreach & Stakeholder Relations
    • Serve as the public face of Diablo Trust, representing the organization at community meetings, conferences, and public forums.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with ranchers, organizations, agencies, and educational institutions.
    • Manage the organization’s outreach efforts through social media, newsletters, and public events.
  • Event Coordination & Public Engagement
    • Plan and organize key Diablo Trust events such as the Annual Meeting, Days on the Land, Cooperative Resource Operation Plan, and the Annual Campout.
    • Coordinate, develop, and participate in public forums and educational programs to engage community members and stakeholders.
    • Ensure events are well-organized, well-attended, and aligned with Diablo Trust’s mission.
  • Fundraising & Financial Management
    • Lead fundraising efforts, including grants, donations, and corporate sponsorships.
    • Develop and manage the organization's budget to ensure financial health and sustainability.
    • Prepare and deliver financial reports to the Board and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in environmental science, land management, nonprofit management, or a related field is favorable but not required.
  • Experience: Experience in nonprofit leadership, program management, land conservation, office management including budgeting development, fundraising and fiscal management.
  • Skills: The ideal candidate is a person who likes collaborating with people, is outgoing, does not shy away from different or controversial ideas about land management, and wants to keep learning new things. Additionally, they should have:
    • Strong leadership and organizational abilities
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Knowledge of ranching and land stewardship
    • Proficiency in office software such as Squarespace, QuickBooks, social media platforms, and project management tools
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently

Grant writing and administration is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $30 per hour (32 hrs per week)
  • Time Off: 5 days paid vacation, paid sick leave (24 hours/year), and paid holidays.
  • Additional Benefits: No benefits provided at this time, but the PM is encouraged to propose a benefits package as fundraising efforts grow.

 Time Flexibility:

The PM may work flexible hours to accommodate evening and weekend meetings or events. Flex time can be taken during weekdays and will be tracked and noted on time sheets.
