A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline.
Primary Function:
AIS is seeking a qualified Project Manager to capture and then manage environmental monitoring and mitigation and remote electronic monitoring projects associated with commercial fisheries, marine construction, offshore wind and renewable energy. Projects will be throughout the United States, primarily along the eastern seaboard. International online project support required in time zones which may vary from Eastern Standard Time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary technical liaison between project stakeholders (Clients, NMFS, Federal, State and Local Regulators, sub-contractors, and corporate partners).
- Assist with maintenance of contact lists of current and potential Clients.
- Coordinate project outreach.
- Coordinate and attend project meetings with our Clients, NMFS, and industry members.
- Coordinate the development and administering of environmental monitoring and mitigation plans, and vessel monitoring plans.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring, and training of qualified staff to conduct fieldwork ensuring that a stable pool of qualified candidates are available to meet project demands.
- Supervise project field staff, in person and remotely.
- Develop and deliver pre-project trainings and attend all project kick off meetings.
- Maintain individual project workbooks, trackers and HSE plans.
- Coordinate personnel deployments and work with Logistics Coordinators for all deployment related logistics.
- Work with corporate support team on various items as needed
- Ensure field staff communicate, document, and submit all required data, enforcement issues, industry feedback, etc.
- Approve weekly timesheets and expenses.
- Manage, store, review, and analyze data, photos and videos collected by field staff on project.
- Coordinate the schedule for data processing and delivery of data summary.
- Coordinate equipment installation and removal, data retrieval and all logistics associated with the project.
- Ensure that EM technicians and data reviewers communicate, document, and submit all required data, report enforcement issues, and supply industry feedback, etc.
- Manage and analyze data in order to develop comprehensive final reports for projects
- Participate and assist with maintenance and delivery of AIS Protected Species Observer training.
- Ensure project deliverables are met.
- Attend conferences and symposia to present AIS project results and network with industry stakeholders,, some travel may be required.
- Assist Program Manager to develop and enforce professional standards of conduct and accuracy
- Engage in business development for environmental and electronic monitoring to enhance AIS’s marketing plan to promote our services.
- Assist with the development of marketing materials, and present materials to potential customers and at conferences and industry meetings.
- Staff the company call center providing industry support.
Compensation: This is a full–time salaried position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in a life or natural science with 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Must be familiar with environmental mitigation plans.
- Must be familiar with marine electronics and electronic equipment.
- Must have experience working independently, networking, managing personnel and managing projects.
- Prior experience as a Fisheries Liaison Officer, Client Representative, or Protected Species Observer or similar offshore client facing role.
- Must have a valid US driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile up to 8 hours a day.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software, social media, and database development.
- Must have strong organization and time management skills.
- Written communication skills with the ability to draft concise project plans and proposals.
- Oral communication skills to explain complex instructions and present information to the public.
- Must be able to work a variable schedule as needed which could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to tolerate interrupted sleep occasionally to respond to issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree with a concentration in Marine Science or Biological Sciences
- Experience with environmental mitigation systems used in marine construction work is a plus.
- Experience with Electronic Monitoring systems used on onboard fishing vessels is a plus
- Prior experience with the NEFSC fisheries programs is preferred
