About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead our conservation initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring our projects run smoothly, meet their objectives, and deliver tangible, timely results that make a difference for the planet. This role reports directly to the Head of Programs.
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of various environmental projects, working closely with internal teams, scientists, and volunteers.
You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy being hands-on and autonomous, yet collaborative—perfect for someone who thrives in a startup-like environment. This position will include managing workflows, partnering with scientists, and managing budgets while staying deeply involved in day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of conservation-focused projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and delivery.
- Develop detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with Adventure Scientists' mission and goals.
- Create and manage project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring financial accountability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, field teams, volunteers, and external partners.
- Leverage project management tools like Asana to manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and track progress.
- Identify risks and implement strategies to mitigate challenges, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Deliver comprehensive project metrics to stakeholders, highlighting progress, outcomes, and lessons learned.
- Support logistics for field teams, including data collection processes, volunteer training, and resource allocation.
- Continuously optimize project management processes to improve efficiency and impact, while ensuring proper documentation for sustainability purposes.
Skills & Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on project or program management experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization leading end-to-end projects in a fully remote environment.
- 2+ years of expertise with project management tools, especially Asana, including advanced features like integrations, dependencies and reporting.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with a proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
- A passion for adventure and the outdoors—you understand the value of fieldwork and connecting with nature.
Optional Certifications
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other Agile certifications.
Extra Awesome Qualities
- Preferred background in conservation, sustainability, or scientific research.
- Previous experience in a startup or similarly dynamic environment in a remote setting.
- Tech-savvy and passionate about diverse tools (Notion, Salesforce, etc.)

Compensation
$65,000 per year

Hiring Process
At Adventure Scientists, we believe in a transparent, enjoyable, and thorough hiring experience that ensures mutual alignment.
- Initial Conversation: Your first call will be with our Hiring Coordinator, Ana, to discuss your experience and fit with our mission.
- Collaborative Project: In the second step, we’ll invite you to work on a short project that reflects the type of work you’ll do, offering insights into our team-oriented approach.
- Meet the Manager: The third step includes a conversation with the Hiring Manager, Nate, allowing you to learn more about the role.
- Culture Fit/Add Interview: The next discussion will be with Lydia, our Chief of Staff, designed to gauge mutual compatibility.
- Meet the Team: The final call will be with a couple of internal team members in a panel interview for you to learn the dynamics of our team.
Throughout the process, we’ll keep you updated so you’ll always know what to expect. Typically, the entire hiring process spans three to six weeks.
