This position will work as a technical team member with the Abandoned Mine Land Program and will perform duties necessary to meet the Program's legislative mandate to protect public health, safety and property from the adverse effects of historic mining practices, including the restoration of adjacent land and water resources, and to help ensure that activities comply with federal environmental laws and reporting requirements, the state procurement code, and project plans and specifications.

This position is responsible for conducting field investigations to assess the physical and environmental hazards of abandoned mine sites, researching surface and mineral ownership and obtaining rights-of-entry, developing and managing safeguarding and reclamation projects, as well as reviewing designs and technical reports to assist Program Compliance Staff in obtaining environmental and cultural clearances, including Federal and State water resource permits. Other duties of the position include working with Federal/State/Local governments and the public to develop abandoned mine land projects, monitoring construction/reclamation activities, administering professional services and construction contracts, writing of technical proposals, and conducting public meetings and other Program outreach activities.
