The company focuses high- level and due diligence advising integrating nature-based solutions and climate risk; and the ESIA/EIA process- which it views as an opportunity to integrate science-based options across all aspects. The company is often the interlocutor between different sectors- including government, private and community.

ROLE

The Projects Manager and Ecosystem Scientist is a role for a qualified individual who is professional, energetic, proactive, confident, client-oriented and driven to solve pressing problems. The individual can establish project needs, conduct field and desk-based work, and develop and successfully implement project plans including working with clients, internal resources, and third-party resources to deliver projects on time and on budget. The ideal candidate must enjoy working on a variety of projects and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • Apply knowledge of ecosystems, marine processes, and climate-change risks on work that is centered around applying practical nature-forward solutions for tropical marine and coastal ecosystems including mangroves, coral reefs, sand dunes, and coastal
  • Conduct field and desk-top research, and contribute to reports that include Environmental and Socio-Economic Impact Assessments
  • Manage and internal and extremal consulting team: set project timelines; monitor team and project deliverables; and update relevant stakeholders the project progress
  • Coordinate and communicate with high-end clients, governmental agencies and stakeholders
  • Prepare reports and work plans
  • Collecting, processing, and evaluating data
  • Interpret permits and other environmental documents
  • Ability to work across sectors with government officials, engineers, management teams, and high level clients is essential.

Most of this field work is based in the Caribbean region. The ideal candidate will be expected to travel in order to spend at least 25% of their time in the Caribbean. Due to the nature of the work and travel, from time to time, weekend work may be required, and the Company has a flex time policy to compensate for that time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in either ecological or marine science
  • A minimum of five years of experience in project management, and direct experience in environmental projects and some in EIA/ESIA
  • Proven track record working successfully with different skills coastal engineering
  • Experience in tropical coastal ecology, biology, and management
  • Understanding of infrastructure and its interaction with ecosystems
  • Some experience in private sector preferred as well as practical experience in applying solutions to real world situations.
  • Experience working in the Caribbean a plus

LOCATION

The job is located in Washington, DC, however the Company has a hybrid policy, and potentially remote option. The candidate will be expected to travel to the Caribbean region.

SALARY

Range $90,000-115,000 Commensurate with experience. Benefits and Annual bonus pay.
