Position Description:
Interns will receive training and hands-on experience in rangeland monitoring methods at the onset of the monitoring season. Your focus will be creating and continuing trusted relationship with land management personnel and teams. This requires you assisting of their Land Management Impact program for select clients and regions. The internships education and skills will assist rangeland field monitoring, data entry, research, and analysis of regenerative practices across a variety of landscapes.

This internship offers a front-lines opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of rangeland management, gain valuable experience, and build relationships with experts in the regenerative farming and ranching community. You will travel extensively within the Great Plains and Rocky Mountain region, with potential travel to other regions. Your contributions will be instrumental in supporting managers striving to achieve their land management goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect and manage field data for effective reporting to clients.
  • Assist with planning rangeland monitoring excursions, including scheduling, travel, and equipment management.
  • Help coordinate, organize, and facilitate field days on ranches.

  • Excellent communication with teammates the working agriculture community.
  • Enjoyment of traveling and working in diverse terrain and respecting diverse peoples of all demographics.
  • Ability to travel away from home for extended periods.
  • Experience in scientific writing and editing.
  • Computer and technology literacy.
  • Ability to kneel, lift over 50 pounds, walk long distances, and work outside in all conditions.
  • Navigation of backcountry terrain using ATVs or 4-wheel drive vehicles.
  • Wilderness first aid, extensive camping experience, or the like is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with GIS software (Google Earth Engine, QGIS, ArcGIS).
  • Self-motivated problem-solving mentality and a strong work ethic.
  • Self-discipline, strong organization, acute attention to detail, and punctuality.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a drug test.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for client-related travel.  Milage is reimbursed according to IRS rate.
