Description: The Oregon Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex in partnership with Shoreline Education for Awareness provides full-time (40-hours/week) PLC internships. Interns gain hands-on experience alongside park rangers, wildlife biologists and refuge managers. Applications due: March 2, 2025

Refuge Management Intern: Works with refuge staff to gain experience in habitat restoration, biological surveys and visitor services/facilities. This position is stationed in Bandon, OR at Bandon Marsh NWR. May 1, 2025- Aug 30, 2025

Duties include:
Identify, monitor, map and remove invasive plants to improve habitat conditions. Participate in coastal prairie restoration project at Crook Point (requires camping at a remote field site with no running water or electricity, ~1-2 nights/week). Conduct weekly nest monitoring of black oystercatchers and other on-going seabird research projects. Assist with bi-monthly mosquito monitoring activities. Assist with native pollinator garden and refuge maintenance activities.

Requirements: 

  • B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management or related field required. 
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under age 31
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups
  • Must have good observational and communication skills
  • Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays and morning/evening shifts
