Duties:
The Real Estate Branch (REB) is seeking a motivated Right of Way Agent / Associate Right of Way Agent to join the Property Management Unit in the Property Management and Encroachment Permits Section. The Property Management and Encroachment Permits Section is responsible for and resolving routine issues regarding the use by others of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) State Water Project (SWP) lands and rights of way.
Under close supervision of the Senior Right of Way Agent, the incumbent works at the entry level performing routine duties and resolving non-complex issues regarding the use by others of State Water Project (SWP) lands and rights of way. This position will primarily support the Property Management program. As Section workload changes, work in other Real Estate Branch Units may be performed on a temporary basis. Please refer to the attached duty statements for more details regarding the Right of Way Agent or the Associate Right of Way Agent’s specific responsibilities.
Desirable Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who can handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; take initiative and be resourceful in meeting challenges; effectively build creditable and ongoing relationships with all internal and external stakeholders; and maintain a high level of professional and technical right of way expertise. The candidate must have experience making presentations and facilitating meetings and workshops; be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; have excellent organizational skills; and can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Practical working knowledge of Property Management functions is a plus.
Right of Way specific training and education, and a four-year college degree in either business, economics, real estate, or a similar area are preferred, but not required.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle. May require overnight stays.
May need to possess a current Notary Public License or obtain a Notary Public License within 90 days of starting employment with the Real Estate Branch. License securing and renewal fees are reimbursed to the employee upon agreement that the Notary Public License is only to be used for State business.
