FISHBIO is seeking a talented individual with fresh ideas who’s excited to transform our science communications into a tool that generates greater brand awareness, audience growth & engagement, and business opportunities. Your role will be crucial in translating complex scientific information into stories that inspire change, spark curiosity, and influence public perception of critical environmental issues.
The Ideal candidate
- Is a self-starter who can take initiative and drive projects forward with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrates efficient time management skills.
- Is detailed and team oriented.
- Is experienced in reporting, identifying trends, and making data-driven improvements in email content creation and scheduling.
- Has the ability to work and adapt to a face-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, execute, and optimize Mailchimp email campaigns (automations, A/B testing, and audience segmentations) based on engagement metrics.
- Craft, refine, and copyedit engaging public-facing content for target specific audiences including outreach and marketing materials.
- Update WordPress website pages and ensure contents are accurate, engaging, and formatted correctly.
- Develop and execute fresh and strategic communications plans.
- Maintain a high standard of writing and editing and ensure cohesive messaging and effective execution of communication strategies across various platforms.
- Assist in content development and support educational outreach initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, fisheries, or natural resource management.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in scientific communications and/or research.
- Solid understanding of fisheries science, natural resource management, and conservation.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing with a talent for storytelling.
- Proven success with public-facing media content and executing marketing and communication strategies with measurable outcomes.
- Experience or knowledge of SEO and google analytics.
Location: Chico, CA or Oakdale, CA; Potential for remote work
