HIRING FOR SUMMER AND FALL!! 

We staff new Seasonal Instructors each Fall and each Spring school semester, along with Summer for camp. We welcome applications year-round for the upcoming season.

Come help us share our 200+ acres on Lay Lake in central Alabama with groups of students from all over Alabama and surrounding states. Work with the students to foster a sense of community as well as an appreciation, understanding, and responsibility for our environment. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and visit our Center for day or overnight trips. These students are mostly 4th-6th grade students but can range from K-12th grade and occasionally college and adult groups as well.

Teach engaging, hands-on classes in the great outdoors, i.e., herpetology, forest ecology, aquatic ecology, canoeing, team building, and high ropes. Adapt the established lesson plans to match your teaching style and strengths. Assist with program development. Lead evening programs such as campfire, night hikes, astronomy, and live animal programs.

Work with a team of passionate and friendly individuals from all across the country. Building a strong and cohesive team is a cornerstone of our program. Two weeks of paid staff training provided!

• Those who are flexible, genuinely enjoy working with children, and want to better themselves for the future will thrive at 4-HSS.
• An ideal applicant has high-energy and is attentive, honest, hardworking, positive, outgoing, thorough in their work, and able to communicate when they are unsure.
• Have the following characteristics: enthusiasm, maturity, initiative, sense of humor, flexibility, and team spirit.
• Be familiar with the outdoors and environmental issues.
• Possess current certifications in CPR and First Aid or be able to obtain before start of season.
• All employees will undergo a background check once hired.

• Housing just a mile from the 4-H Center.
• All instructors have private bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a community kitchen, a living room, and laundry machines.
