The Monmouth County Park System manages over 18,000 acres of parks and open space. As part of ongoing natural resource management and park planning activities the Park System evaluates field conditions and implements management actions to achieve our resource stewardship objectives. The Park System is offering a seasonal job opportunity to conduct invasive species management, resource/botanical inventories, working with volunteers, and evaluations using established resource monitoring methodologies, with a concentration on forest health.

The position will require a valid driver’s license, the ability to properly identify native and invasive plants of Monmouth County, the ability to wayfind using maps and GPS, ability to conduct outdoor surveys in rough terrain and varied weather conditions, and the ability to keep accurate records and draft reports. Candidates with existing plant identification skills are strongly preferred. Knowledge of GIS and database applications and GPS technology is desirable; training can be provided. The park system has an existing inventory of resource data, maps and GIS support.

The position is based out of Thompson Park in Lincroft, New Jersey. Field work is conducted in parks throughout the county; a vehicle is available. The hourly rate starts at $16.10 for a term of approximately 4 months, 24-40 hours per week. Position will begin in May 2025. Scheduling can be flexible within general work week hours.
