LOCATION: Washington Conservation District – Oakdale, MN
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Technician
SALARY RANGE: $18.00-$20.00/hr DOQ (up to $21 for crew lead)
HOURS: up to 40-hours per week.
BENEFITS: Performance based up to $500 bonus available plus enhanced sick and safety leave
STATUS: Seasonal, non-exempt TERM: Spring-Fall, Flexible start and end dates.

The Washington Conservation District (WCD) seeks self-motivated individuals to monitor and maintain stormwater practices and restoration projects to protect and improve wildlife habitat and water quality in beautiful Washington County, Minnesota. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

1. Maintenance of practices, including weeding, mulching, planting, sediment removal, herbicide application.
2. Provide support for installation ofstormwater management and other projects.
3. Provide support monitoring past projects for functionality and update database.
4. Assist with other WCD programs as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants will possess a high school diploma or GED. Interest or experience with landscaping, stormwater practices (e.g. rain gardens) or landscape restoration (e.g. prairies). Some plant identification skills or sincere interest to learn. Applicants must be a hard worker, self-motivated, able to show a commitment to high quality work, dedicated to completing projects on schedule, and be able to work independently. Effective communication and computer skills are critical. Valid driver's license and good record. Crew Lead will have documented landscaping and team leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Highly qualified applicants will possess, or be actively pursuing a biology, natural resources, or related degree. Work experience with landscaping and landscape maintenance, including towing trailers. Personal vehicle available for use (mileage reimbursed at current IRS rates). Experience identifying, installing or maintaining native plant communities. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and image processing programs. Herbicide applicator certification or willingness to obtain (training provided by WCD).

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves mostly outside field work (90%). Frequent position changes; lifting, pushing, and pulling requirement more than 50 pounds on a regular basis; exposures not limited to heat, cold, and wet conditions; and use of the senses of sight and smell are necessary in this work. Equipment used include, but not limited to, landscaping equipment, dump trailers, large pick-ups, and computers/tablets.
