This is a 3 month seasonal job, with the potential of a 6 month position if the right Canidate is willing to work as both a Crew and Nursery member. The position is located in Prairie City, Oregon. It is partly on our Prairie City grounds, but you will also be on working on the John Day river or Tribal lands. There is no camping/hitches required. We do have offsite housing available that can be discussed for the right canidate.

We are a restoration based firm, that focuses on restoring fish habitiat. We grow native plants collected from within our basin. We grow from seed and cuttings that we outplant on our tribal property. We also maintain our property fences, ditches, plants, and water passagages.

Nursery Crew Tech: Assisting native plant nursery staff with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: care of plant stock (weeding, watering, fertilizing, transplanting), trimming and pruning of shrubs and trees, maintaining irrigation systems, weed control via hand pulling and herbicide application, grounds maintenance (mowing, edging, raking), seed collection, out-planting of native plants at restoration sites, and maintaining equipment (UTV's, mowers, string trimmers, and water pumps). 

Field Crew Tech: Works as part of a crew to implement projects on the Forrest, Oxbow and Dunstan Conservation properties, as well as project work for the John Day Watershed Restoration program on sites throughout the John Day River Basin. Work to Include habitat enhancement projects, installation of spring developments, juniper felling and hand piling, tree planting for up to three months per year, control of noxious weeds using herbicides and mowers, fence repair and building in addition to operating and maintaining shop and field equipment. Knowledge and experience of various fence building techniques, ATV/Skid steer/backhoe. 

Requirements:

Applicant will be expected to work while standing, sitting, kneeling, and frequent bending and lifting for long periods with reasonable accommodation. Applicant should be able to lift/move objects of up to 50 lbs. Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather. Some weather clothing will be provided dependent on task. 

A interest in Fish, Plant, or ground maintenance is preffered. This is an entry level position, but a small understanding of one of these categories is requested.
