The San Luis Obispo Coast District of California State Parks is seeking applicants for a Senior Park Aide.  Responsibilities include data collection and reporting related to the federally threatened western snowy plover, monarch butterflies, elephant seals, shoulderband snails, and other sensitive species; and habitat restoration activities including exotic plant removal and native plant propagation, out planting and establishment. Additional responsibilities involve training lower-level seasonal employees and working with the public as a State Park representative and with an interdisciplinary team.

Specific duties include monitoring the breeding activities of the western snowy plover using ArcGIS applications, fence and sign installation, public outreach, report writing, exotic plant removal via hand, chemical, or mechanical means and native plant collection, propagation, transplanting, maintenance, and watering, and other duties as necessary.

Training will be provided, and activities will involve driving a vehicle.  Typical working hours are 7:00am – 3:30pm weekdays depending on operational needs but may also weekends depending on program/project needs.  The positions will start mid-February and continue through October 2025.  Starting pay is $20.29/hr.  Housing is not available.
