Status: Exempt, full-time (40 hours a week), permanent dependent upon completion of a 1-year probationary period. Mandatory seasonal overtime. 

Job Summary: The Senior Project Manager will lead a team of project managers in the planning and implementation of ecological restoration projects.  This position will conduct work both outdoors and in an office setting.  This position will report to the Director of Projects.  

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon. Project sites across the Pacific Northwest. 

Transportation: Provide own transportation to work sites, Hillsboro office, or other planned locations.  

Compensation & Benefits: $70,000-$85,000 starting salary, DOE. Paid time off, sick leave, medical and dental insurance, monthly phone stipend or company issued cellphone, gas stipend, life insurance, retirement.   

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Hire, train, and oversee staff in the Project Department.
  • Oversee the scheduling, training, and daily workflow of staff in the Project Department. 
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline of Project Department employees in accordance with company policy.

Primary Duties: 

  • Manage and mentor a team of project managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Collaborate with ACFM senior leadership to develop strategic goals and objectives for ecological restoration projects, ensuring alignment of all restoration projects with organizational priorities.
  • Oversee and coordinate the execution of restoration projects, ensuring they meet client expectations and ACFM profitability requirements.  Partner with Project Development Managers to implement new projects. 
  • Conduct site risk assessments; Identify potential project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful and safe projects.
  • Assess project metrics and outcomes, preparing reports and presentations for ACFM senior leadership and stakeholders to demonstrate project success and impact.
  • Establish and implement quality control processes to monitor project performance and ensure compliance with best practices in ecological restoration. 
  • Oversee the allocation of resources effectively across projects, ensuring that project managers and high priority projects have the support they need to succeed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, customers, and coworkers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving project objectives. 
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, and related project management software.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 4+ years previous background experience in project management, specifically in ecological restoration or related environmental projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ecological principles, restoration techniques, and relevant regulations.
  • 2+ years of relevant field work experience required

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability, motivation, and endurance for eight to ten hours of productive manual labor
  • Ability to work outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather
  • Ability to safely lift 60 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
