Prunuske Chatham, Inc. (PCI) is seeking a Senior Restoration Engineer to join our team in Sebastopol, CA. PCI is a small, multi-disciplinary firm that specializes in ecological restoration throughout Northern California. Our team of scientists, planners, landscape architects, engineers, and construction staff work collaboratively to produce high quality outcomes for our clients. Our work focuses on environmental restoration, habitat enhancement, and landscape design, with an emphasis on rivers and floodplains to recover salmonid populations in California. The ideal candidate has the ability to think critically when approaching complex restoration projects and bring a mix of management, design, and modeling skills to their daily work. We are seeking a licensed engineer capable of leading teams with diverse disciplines from project inception through final design and implementation.

Typical Tasks:

  • Lead multiple design projects simultaneously from concept level to final construction documents;
  • Create construction details for a broad range of civil engineering projects with an emphasis on environmental designs;
  • Write design reports including technical memos, hydraulic modeling reports, basis of design reports, and structure stability analysis reports;
  • Develop project technical specifications, review bid documents, and modify front end specifications;
  • Estimate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates;
  • Present projects to technical advisory committees and clients;
  • Support clients through the contractor procurement process;
  • Oversee implementation of environmental enhancement projects;
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff of various disciplines.

Qualifications

  • S. in civil or environmental engineering;
  • Professional engineering license in California;
  • 10+ years of professional experience focused on waterways and/or habitat restoration;
  • Demonstrated experience preparing construction documents;
  • Demonstrated writing skills and experience producing high-quality reports;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including corridors and grading objects;
  • Demonstrated experience creating and reviewing 2-dimensional hydraulic models.

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic work environment;
  • Experience in fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics and typical civil engineering including grading, drainage, and erosion control;
  • Experience with construction, or construction oversight;
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS/HMS, TR-55, and ArcGIS;
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and lead/manage projects to meet project objectives, timelines, and budgets;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively in a team environment and with clients;
  • Commitment to learning and critical thinking.
