Starting Pay Rate:
$15.00 per hour
Job Summary
Under general direction the person in this position performs duties to maintain the care of wildlife, as well as provide guidance to interns. Perform wildlife related duties including cleaning, husbandry, record keeping, and general labor.

Essential functions:
EQUIPMENT OPERATION
- Operate and maintain anesthesia equipment
- Operate and maintain x-ray equipment
- Operate and maintain blood analyzer
- Safely and effectively operate a 4x4 motor vehicle in an off-road environment in proximity to people and obstacles.
PATIENT CARE
- Performs patient care under state and federal guidelines
- Assist coordinator and full-time position with treatment plans
- General husbandry, cleaning of kennels and enclosures, diet prep, administering medications and fluids
SUPERVISION/MISCELLANEOUS
- Assumes supervisory duties in the absence of higher ranking personnel and accepts responsibility of patient care operations
- Assist and guide interns on capture calls or when answering the phones
- Assist with training of interns
- Assist with social media management
- Data entry/medical records
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Verbal skills to communicate effectively with the community, general public, subordinates, co-workers, supervisors
- Math skills to calculate drug dosages
- Supervisory skills to assist in assigning work, training others, reviewing performance, etc.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to assess quality of life for an animal and the ability to perform humane euthanasia when necessary
- Decision-making and critical thinking skills, initiative
Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Driver's License
- Willing to non-standard hours, weekends and holidays
- Willing to work overtime as required to complete work assignments
Education and experience:
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer bachelor's degree in wildlife, biology, conservation, or another related field
- Preference will be given to those possessing wildlife handling experience
Licenses and Certifications:
- Possess and maintain a current Red Cross First Aid/CPR and AED certification (training will be provided).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work requires frequent physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves moderate risk or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around or with moving vehicles, possible contagious diseases and unpredictable wildlife. Employees may be required to use protective clothing and work outside in extreme conditions. Be tolerable to extreme heat.
Looking to have someone start in March and end in December. There is a possibility it could turn into a permant position, and also a possiblity it could turn into a full time postion.
