Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS)
NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS). These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in Training in Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation Provisions of the National Food Security Act. OR BA/BS Degree in soil conservation or related agricultural or natural resource discipline such as agronomy, soil science, forestry, agricultural education, or agricultural engineering.
- Valid State Driver's license.
- Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel
- Other Software: ArcGIS, ArcPro preferrable.
- NRCS Software (if applicable): LDSI, Conservation Desktop (as needed).
Duties:
This position will serve to provide conservation assistance associated with Highly Erodible Land Conservation (HELC) and Wetland Conservation (WC) provisions of the Food Security Act with the aim to reduce soil loss on highly erodible land and protect wetlands from conversion. Other ancillary duties may include assisting the State Resource Inventory Coordinator with local data entry for the National Resource Inventory (NRI) utilizing Local Data Survey Instrument (LDSI) platform.
- Prepare highly erodible lands conservation compliance determinations for processing, review and signature. 40%
- Help gather, analyze and evaluate data to address highly erodible land and/or wetland conservation compliance concerns, status reviews, and determinations. 40%
- Local data entry of segment data in LDSI for counties as assigned. 20%
Other:
- Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
- Health and Safety Considerations: Potential for outdoor work for status review data collection. This would entail traversing potentially rough, steep terrain through woodlots, or shrubby vegetation, and farmed fields, during potentially inclement weather. The incumbent will need to dress accordingly for the field.
