This position is assigned to Navajo Lake State Park. The incumbent of this position is responsible for the protection and management of natural and cultural resources, public safety and law enforcement functions, visitor services, facility management and maintenance at Navajo Lake State Park. The incumbent will have a strong background regarding policy and procedures, and will ensure goals and objectives are met through the supervision of staff specialists responsible for the many park programs which include: all law enforcement programs, public land use and management, administration, human resources, lake safety, law enforcement and boating equipment and tool maintenance, and public relations, while following policy, procedures and regulations established by the applicable federal and state government agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Criminal Justice or Wildlife Management from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience in parks and recreation management, natural resources, biology, environmental sciences, forestry, criminal justice and/or wildlife management, of which one (1) year must be supervisory experience. A hiring agency may designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Must be a certified NM peace officer.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of parks and recreation management with experience in Law Enforcement.
- The candidate must be able to perform in stressful situations requiring prompt decision making with significant consequences.
- The candidate must have excellent communication, organizational skills, and be able to provide outstanding customer service.
- The ideal candidate will have extensive boating experience in various weather conditions
