Stewardship Coordinator

We seek a motivated and passionate person to conduct stewardship monitoring throughout MLC’s conservation easements in Montezuma, Dolores, and San Miguel Counties in Southwest Colorado. The Stewardship Coordinator is a six-month full time position from April-September that will work to conduct monitoring visits while ensuring proper documentation and communication with landowners.
Primary job duties include:
- Coordinate with and contact landowners to schedule monitoring visits for conservation easements.
- Conduct on the ground monitoring of 93 conservation easements that range in size from 30 to 7,000 acres.
- Prepare detailed monitoring reports documenting site visits.
- Meet with landowners to build relationships and discuss the conservation easement.
- Review and prepare for monitoring visits by reading through previous monitoring visits, baseline materials and the conservation easement.
- Update and manage digital and physical file recordings for all monitoring visits within Landscape monitoring software and within MLC’s digital and physical storage.
- Provide landowners with land management information or resources as requested.
- Participate in staff meetings, project meetings and other organization-wide meetings and events.
