Dutchess Land Conservancy  - Summer Stewardship Internship 

Location: 4289 Route 82, Millbrook, NY

Duration:  3-4 months (May to September). Start and end dates flexible. Approximately 21-35 hrs./week.

Compensation: This is a paid internship position. Housing is not provided.

The Stewardship Intern will work under the direct supervision of the Stewardship Team, assisting staff to achieve their annual goals. This is an in-person internship; the applicant will be expected to work from the main office.

Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting extensive field work by monitoring conservation easement-protected properties.
• Hiking off-trail over various terrains to document the conditions of the property through photographs and written reports.
• Using Photoshop and ArcGIS to complete monitoring reports, including maps and photographs.
• Observing and documenting current property condition, noting changes including construction, tree clearing, wetland disturbances, and natural disturbances such as erosion.
• Assist with the DLC’s record management.

Recommended Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and ArcGIS (training will be provided.)
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
• Ability to navigate using maps, aerial photographs, and GPS.
• A valid driver's license is not required, but beneficial
• Coursework in Environmental studies, biology, or related fields.
• Applicant should be in good physical condition with the ability to hike several miles over rough terrain
