The Ogden Nature Center is seeking a visionary and skilled Strategic Communications & Marketing Manager to lead high impact communications that inspire, educate, and engage. This leadership role is responsible for shaping the public voice of the organization and driving strategies that elevate our mission, programs, and presence in the community.
Reporting to the Executive Director and serving on the internal Executive Team, this position plays a key role in developing and delivering cohesive, compelling messaging across all platforms. The ideal candidate is both a strategist and a storyteller, with the ability to see the big picture while effectively managing the details with creativity and clarity.
About the Role
As the Strategic Communications & Marketing Manager, you will:
• Develop and execute an annual communications and marketing plan aligned with the organization’s mission and
goals.
• Create engaging content and visual assets to support programs, fundraising efforts, and educational outreach.
• Maintain a consistent and compelling brand identity across all platforms and materials.
• Manage digital channels including social media, website updates, email campaigns, and analytics reporting.
• Collaborate with the Education and Development Directors to promote programs and events through targeted
messaging.
• Support internal communications to foster employee engagement and a positive organizational culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and manage marketing collateral, signage, digital assets, and event promotions.
• Maintain and regularly update the website to reflect current programs, events, and stories.
• Ensure all messaging aligns with ONC’s values, tone, and strategic objectives.
• Track and report communications metrics to guide data-informed decisions.
• Manage social media accounts and groups with a focus on storytelling and community engagement.
• Build relationships with partners, sponsors, and vendors, ensuring marketing activations and contract deliverables
are met.
• Lead development of cohesive, multi-channel messaging across digital platforms.
• Share photos, partner content, and create short-form videos to promote and celebrate ONC’s mission and
community.
• Produce content for the ONC newsletter and support staff and volunteers with marketing materials and outgoing
communications.
• Maintain online event calendars, assist with press releases and fundraising promotions, and support overall brand
awareness.
• Organize and manage digital assets, including historical photo and video archives.
• Stay current on digital trends and best practices to drive growth across social media, web platforms, and ONC’s
contact databases.
• Lead communications-related aspects of events such as promotions, signage, media coordination, and sponsor
visibility. Assist with other logistics as needed.
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field preferred; equivalent
combinations of education, experience, and technical training will be considered.
• 2–3 years of experience in social media management, communications, or marketing required.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with strong visual and editorial judgment.
• Knowledge of marketing best practices, digital content creation, and short-form video strategies.
• Proficiency in at least one design platform for creating visual and marketing assets is required; experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to produce polished work independently.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and work across teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Familiarity with the greater Ogden area and experience in event marketing or nonprofit settings is preferred.
• Adaptable, proactive, and eager to grow in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Passionate about environmental education, community engagement, and connecting people with nature.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs. and sit, stand, or use a computer for extended periods.
• Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, including outdoor events in various weather conditions. Flex time is provided.
• Coordinate sponsor recognition and activations with the Development Team.
• Lead media relations including writing press releases, securing coverage, and coordinating appearances.
