Introduction
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Watershed Stewardship uses a comprehensive array of watershed-based
programs to manage and protect the State’s natural resources. Within this Division, the Watershed Assessment and Management Section oversees monitoring, restoration and
education outreach related to submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). This internship will support the Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Program in its mission to conduct
restoration of SAV in Delaware’s Inland Bays and conduct SAV monitoring statewide in marine and freshwater systems. For more information, visit the website at Watershed

Summary Statement:
DNREC is seeking an intern to assist the Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) Program with various aspects of SAV work for statewide efforts, including surveying SAV, closely
monitoring donor beds, physical collection of plant material, assistance in construction and operation of seed processing apparatus, maintenance of plant material, and various
outreach/engagement events. The SAV Program is working to expand SAV restoration efforts across the state and begin data collection for a long-term surveying effort.
Working closely with the SAV Program lead and partner agencies, an intern will be exposed to a variety of aspects surrounding these critical aquatic habitats and
monitoring them, having the chance to play a pivotal role in these newly formed efforts. Overall, interning with the SAV Program can provide a rewarding experience, offering
valuable skills, knowledge, and connections that can benefit the intern both personally and professionally.
