Petra Cliffs Climbing Center and Mountaineering School is looking for a ropes course facilitator to join our team as the SumMAT Camp Ropes Course Specialist. This position helps facilitate outdoor educational adventure programming for ages 6-16 on our high ropes/challenge course at Bolton Valley. The summer season of June 9th - August 23th is a part time, seasonal position, with the option for continued work into the Fall season.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Communicating with camp group leaders
- Arriving at the ropes course site and setting up prior to the group’s arrival (dependent upon the day’s plan)
- General risk management appropriate for outdoor activties, low and high ropes course elements
- Storing, inspecting, and maintaining climbing gear (provided by Petra Cliffs)
- Maintain and enforce Petra Cliffs safety standards
Qualifications, Skills
- Confidence explaining ropes course hazards, teambuilding activities, and emergency/rescue procedures
- Ability to work and interact with kids between the ages of 6 and 18.
- Ability to provide a safe and fun experience for all participants
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
- Comfortable improvising and shifting activities for the day to keep campers engaged
Required Experience
- Experience in ropes course facilitation and group instruction
- Experience working with kids of all ages and backgrounds
Required Licenses / Certifications
- Minimum ACCT Level 1 certification
- Wilderness First Aid / CPR
Compensation: Salary commensurate with education, training, and experience.
