Bluff Lake Nature Center is a wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom in Denver (Central Park). Our mission is to educate individuals to be engaged, resilient, and curious; conserve a natural area in the city; further equity in outdoor access; and nurture the health and well-being of communities and ecosystems.

We believe people are positively impacted when nature is an accessible part of their lives. We acknowledge that human activity continues to disturb Colorado’s beautiful natural spaces and that the systemic marginalization of communities has created barriers that limit access to much of the outdoors.

With that in mind, we offer programs that we hope are welcoming for everyone to enjoy. We use sustainable land management practices to ensure the natural value of the site exists long into the future. We hope that individuals are encouraged to create their own connections with nature, in all its forms.

We are currently seeking responsible, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy spending time outside to lead small groups of campers (ages 5-12) during our outdoor summer day camps. We invite kids to explore, play, and get dirty. We have different nature themes each session, all including games, hands-on activities, hikes, free play, and wading in Sand Creek. These camps are extremely well-loved by the community, with many families returning year after year. This year’s themes include Colorado Wildlife, Outdoor Survival, Legends & Lore, Future Scientists, and Best of Bluff Lake.
