The Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station in Rensselaerville, NY, is hiring for its Summer Research Fellow, a six-week summer research and teaching position.
Founded in 1931, the Huyck Preserve accomplishes its unique mission of increasing the general knowledge and love of nature through four key areas: conservation, scientific research, education, and recreation. The Huyck Preserve encompasses 2,000+ acres in Rensselaerville, New York, southwest of Albany and is a land trust accredited through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. The Preserve is also one of the oldest independent biological field stations, with its research program dating to 1938. Today, the Huyck Preserve has a vibrant research program with researchers receiving small grants and visiting annually from across the country and internationally.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the SRF position involve supporting the Huyck Preserve’s summer research program with a focus on mentorship of the Preserve's summer undergraduate Odum Interns and the ability to explore or continue your own research interests at the Huyck Preserve.
Duration: This is a six-week position beginning on approximately June 28, 2025 and ending on approximately August 9, 2025.
Compensation: The SRF position is a summer staff role with a salary of $10,000 for six weeks. On-site shared housing (with a private room) is available and included in the position.
Summer Research Fellows are typically Ph.D.-level scientists. Candidates with significant teaching and research experience and who hold a Master's degree or who are currently Ph.D. candidates will also be considered.
