A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. AIS holds a prime contract as a small business concern under the ProTech Fisheries Domain. ProTech is a contracting vehicle utilized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to gain access to professional and technical services in support of their mission.

Primary Function:

AIS is searching for a Task Lead for an upcoming project we are looking to bid on. We are looking for an enthusiastic manager with a background in protected species research and/or management. The Task Lead will manage the task order, ensuring the best service to our customer, NOAA, while providing the best possible support to our scientific and technical employees. This is fundamentally an interdisciplinary position so preference will be given to those with a combination of marine science and business administration experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Task Order management.
    • Submit Monthly Progress Reports for each task order managed and assists in preparing invoices.
    • Directly supervise and support AIS scientists and technicians.
    • Perform monthly check-ins with AIS support staff
    • Participate in monthly meetings with NOAA project leads
    • Verify task order deliverables and comply with contract parameters
    • Recruit and train new personnel to support task orders
    • Manage profit/loss and approve invoices
    • Communicates regularly with customer points of contact for the task order.
  • Research and stays current with the advancement of offshore marine exploration, marine renewable energy project development, facility construction and expansion projects, and other projects requiring protected species monitoring.
  • Assist in meeting program performance goals (i.e., technical, contractual, administrative, financial).
  • Support business development initiatives by supporting requests for proposals and quotes while also contributing to proposal writing teams.
  • Assist in marketing AIS capabilities and represent the company at industry meetings.

Compensation: Candidates will be paid a salary to be negotiated and total compensation will vary depending on candidates’ depth of experience. This is a full–time position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural or life science with 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Government contracting and business administrative experience
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills and thrive in team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a commitment to detail and accuracy.
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Must be able to travel to meet with clients and subcontracting team members.
  • Baseline knowledge of current trends in marine science and ability to communicate scientific concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in marine science or Master of Business Administration Degree with 3-5 years of management experience.
  • Knowledge in MMPA, ESA, relevant Federal and State Agencies, and Industry groups
  • Knowledge of environmental consulting ecosystem
  • Experience working directly with NOAA or under NOAA task orders

  • Travel Estimated: 25%

Location:

  • In office in Dartmouth, MA is preferred.
