Iowa Pond Guy Technician (3 Openings)

Iowa Pond Guy is currently seeking to fill two seasonal technician positions and one full-time technician position. Technicians will work alongside our team to manage and service ponds and lakes across Iowa. The seasonal work period is from March/April through November, with flexible start and end dates. The hourly rate for seasonal positions ranges from $15 to $20, depending on experience and qualifications. The full-time position offers an hourly rate between $20 and $30+, plus a 401K retirement plan and health care reimbursement package. There are also opportunities for advancement within Iowa Pond Guy, LLC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Towing equipment using a truck and trailer
  • Installation and servicing of aeration systems, fountains, floating docks, habitat structures, ultrasonic algae control systems, and more
  • Assisting with mixing and applying aquatic algaecides and herbicides using backpack sprayers, ATV, and boat-mounted boom sprayers, along with pond dye and beneficial bacteria
  • Assisting with fish surveys using electrofishing equipment, fyke nets, gill nets, and seine nets
  • Assisting with seeding tasks, including applying grass seed and securing it with straw matting
  • Maintaining all equipment, including vehicles, ensuring everything is in working order
  • Keeping work areas clean, including vehicles, the shop, and job sites
  • Performing miscellaneous tasks, such as mowing, weed-eating, prescribed burning, aquatic vegetation planting, tree planting, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferably a 2-year degree in an agricultural or science-related field
  • A valid driver’s license and consent for driving record screening
  • Ability to travel throughout Iowa and navigate rural landscapes
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Physically capable of performing tasks like carrying equipment, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds unaided
  • Ability to work 4-5 days a week (typically Monday through Thursday)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to use Iowa Pond Guy-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
  • Strong attention to detail and professional conduct always
