The Parks and Recreation Department is hiring seasonal Trails Workers for the 2025 season! Work as part of a team to help maintain and improve trails and open spaces within the City of Steamboat Springs. Positions will run from late April or early May through late September. Seasonal employee housing may be available!
The qualified individual focuses on maintaining both hard and soft surface trails throughout the city, including the Emerald Mountain trail network, Core Trail, Spring Creek trails, and neighborhood connectors. Trail corridors must be kept accessible using tools like mowers, weed trimmers, loppers, and chainsaws. Open space restoration efforts involve seeding, watering, and managing noxious weeds, including the application of herbicides and pesticides as needed.
We are seeking the following qualifications:
Willingness to learn new skills and contribute to a productive, fun, and safe team environment. Must be prepared for working up to 10-hour days outside and hiking several miles while carrying tools and equipment. Some weekend work will be required on a rotating basis. Previous experience in trail maintenance, landscaping, or outdoor labor is preferred. Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation range is $21.54 - $26.18/hour and placement within the range is dependent upon relevant experience, certifications, and qualifications.
