Join Our Team as an Urban and Community Forestry Program Specialist!

The Colorado State Forest Service is seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team as Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) Program Specialists. Reporting directly to the UCF Program Manager, these roles are pivotal in providing community forestry assistance and programs to field offices, partners, and communities throughout the Front Range or eastern plains of Colorado. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver urban and community forestry programs and technical expertise to CSFS field offices and partners.
  • Assist with community forestry projects including tree planting, inventory, canopy and risk assessments.
  • Conduct trainings and workshops for professionals and community members.
  • Advocate for community forestry with city councils, county governments, and regional organizations.
  • Administer grants and contracts, support the Colorado Tree Coalition, and manage Arbor Day Foundation recognition programs such as Tree City USA.
  • Work with disproportionately impacted communities to organize urban forestry projects utilizing federal grants.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Exceptional technical proficiency in urban forestry practices and community engagement.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Front Range or eastern Colorado and occasionally to other CSFS offices.
  • Experience in program delivery, grant and budget management, and field operations support.
  • Strong communication skills for conducting workshops, writing reports, and maintaining relationships with key partners.

Work Location: We are hiring for two positions. Both positions are based out of the CSU Spur campus office in Denver, with the potential for flexible work arrangements.

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 based on experience
