Water Resource Technician
East Polk SWCD

The East Polk Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is accepting applications for a Water Resource Technician. This position will be under the supervision of the District Manager. This position will be the lead for Shoreline Restoration and Rain Garden programs, Water Monitoring program, and Soil Health program as well as other duties. The position requires working with landowners and community groups as well as local, state, and federal government to build partnerships and implement conservation programs. The East Polk SWCD offers a flexible working schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources or related field OR 4 years of experience in the natural resource field.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding of conservation and agricultural practices.
• Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills; good sense of humor, self-motivated, outgoing, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
• Physical ability to work effectively in various field conditions, as well as lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to travel for training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with SWCD Programs
• Knowledge of tree species and planting procedures
• Experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS software
• Experience with Survey Equipment or JAA in Structural Ag Practices
• Experience with native and noxious/invasive plant identification
• Knowledge of Best Management Practices (BMP’s)
