About Us:
The Little River Watershed Association is a is an East Tennessee non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health and sustainability of the Little River Watershed. We work with the communities and government agencies to mobilize public awareness and support for a range of issues affecting water quality and sustainability in the watershed. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance the Little River and its tributaries by brining a scientifically informed perspective on watershed ecology.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and highly-organized Program Manager to lead and coordinate our diverse watershed programs. The Program Manager will work closely with the board of directors and our various partners to advance our mission. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, community engagement and/or non-profit leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Management: Design, plan, and implement watershed association activities, including educational programs, river clean-ups, and watershed promotion.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local governments, community groups, landowners, volunteers, and environmental organizations to build partnerships and foster cooperation on watershed-related issues.
- Grant Writing & Fundraising: Develop and submit grant proposals to secure funding for projects, and manage grant reporting and compliance. Cultivate relationships with donors and other funding sources.
- Outreach & Education: Lead public education and awareness campaigns on watershed conservation, pollution prevention, and sustainable water practices. Organize workshops, field days, and events for the community. Manage social media promotion.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Natural Resources Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in program management, environmental planning, or a related field, preferably in a non-profit or community-focused organization.
- Skills:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear and compelling reports and presentations.
- Experience with budgeting, fundraising, and grant writing.
- Knowledge of watershed management, water quality monitoring, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
