 WEBSITE SPECIALIST

The Website Specialist (WIS) volunteer will be a crucial member of the Wildlife Restoration Foundation (WRF) team. Contribute to WRF's digital presence and online outreach as you apply your web development skills to support America's park wildlife conservation efforts. Every WRF team member plays a vital role in fulfilling the organization's mission to increase park wildlife population viability both ex situ and in situ, collaborating closely with National Parks, Wildlife Refuges, Marine Sanctuaries and Forests, zoo and aquarium partners, and park gateway communities

The Website Intern Specialist volunteer will assist the WRF President and team in enhancing and maintaining the organization's website to effectively communicate WRF's primary program work:

  • Zoo-Park Partnerships (ZPPs) for America's Keystone Wildlife™
  • WildLifeLine™
  • "I Am Bear Safe" Project
  • Wildlife Coexistence Strategies and Workshops
  • North American Bison Summit (Individual website)

Throughout volunteering, the website specialist will help WRF improve its online presence, implement digital marketing strategies, and enhance user experience on the website.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Redesign and update the WRF website to improve its functionality, aesthetics, and user experience
  • Implement search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to increase website visibility
  • Create and manage content for the website, including text, images, and videos
  • Develop and maintain a content management system for easy updates
  • Integrate social media platforms with the website for improved engagement
  • Implement analytics tools to track website performance and user behavior
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility
  • Assist in creating landing pages for fundraising campaigns and special projects
  • Collaborate with the team to align website content with WRF's mission and goals

WRF requests a dedicated 16 hours per week (flexible schedule) and an agreement to work with WRF for 4 months. The Website Specialist must be a self-starter, creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about WRF's mission. Volunteering for this role is unpaid, but candidates with great results and performance may be awarded a stipend.

Education & Experience

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or related field
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Wix)
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Passion for wildlife and conservation required!

The Website Specialist will report to Julie Anton Randall, WRF President, and for special projects, to Scott Wilkerson, Director of Partnership Development. Hours are flexible within the week, but participation in occasional full WRF team meetings via Zoom is encouraged
