This position is part of the Southern Timberlands business responsible for the Chattahoochee area and reports to the Piedmont Area Manager. The position is in Georgetown, Ga and will require weekly travel within the area, which ranges from Cherokee county, Alabama and Floyd County, Georgia to the Florida Panhandle.  The successful candidate is encouraged but not required to live in the Columbus, Ga area.  Relocation assistance is available.  

The Wood Flow Manager will be responsible for working directly with the Area Managers, H&T Manager, Marketing Manager and the harvest managers in the Chattahoochee area.  This requires day-to-day clear communication of wood flow plans with Harvest Managers and the Marketing Manager.

Key Functions:

  • Contribute in execution of the Region Road Map strategies.
  • Schedule and coordinate the annual harvest to meet customer commitments and execute the annual plan maximizing annual margin.
  • Ensure harvest is in compliance with the Master Service Agreement.
  • Management and development of a team of Harvest Managers.
  • Monitor and communicate critical pace metrics by contractor, Harvest Manager, and customer to ensure the right logs go to the right place at the right time.
  • Maintain a rolling harvest schedule for every contractor to meet customer commitments and monitor/manage contractor capacity.
  • Ensure key stands are identified and manage wood flow to ensure Value Delivery Agreements are met with 3rd party customers.
  • Support Geographic Managers in the execution of the plan by working with Harvest Managers to give daily instructions.
  • Understand and promote the transportation dispatch implementation and efficiencies. A dispatch system is planned for 2025 for the area.

Qualifications - External

  • BS Forestry or related field with a minimum of 5 years of related job experience or related combination of education and experience, 6 years preferred.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • People management experience or capability with willingness and ability to lead a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software with emphasis in Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to work within a team and across business lines effectively.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $97,351 - $146,027 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3 weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
